Boondocking in the Badlands

Until I went to the Badlands, my life on the road consisted mostly of hotel parking lots and people’s backyards. This was my first solo boondocking (dry camping) experience in my RV. Boondocking means there are no hookups (electric or water) or amenities of any kind.

I found an awesome spot near the western park entrance and enjoyed my setup so much that I didn’t even leave camp one day! I put my canvas tarp out on the grass and had a full day of making collages in my makeshift outdoor studio.

Since I had no set plans other than camping for the next few weeks I decided to stay an extra couple of nights and then move on further westward when I was good and ready.

This was my first real taste of life on the road and a breathtaking start to my new adventure!
